More on the final project
After meeting last week, Paige sent me a short film that she had made using images of her dancers performing a work inspired by "Autumn Rhythm". I extracted the images from the movie she sent me, and then set out to create a short film in iMovie of my own using these images of her dancers, but also incorporating other images. I chose pictures of bebop musicians who were an inspiration to Pollock at the time that he painted "Autumn Rhythm" (like Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie), along with images of Pollock at work creating his unique works. For a score I made a collage in Digital Performer of five different bebop tunes, mixed together in various ways. The piece itself reminds me of Pollock's painting style, in a way. It's chaotic, but still structured. Structured chaos, I guess. Then I sent the jazz collage and movie to the rest of my group. Hopefully the collage will be used in the dramatic part of our presentation. I like this way of collaboration. We've bounced ideas off of each other, then passed around materials to each other that we can use in creating our portion of the project. Not sure what final form our presentation will take. Possibly a PowerPoint presentation. More later.
